Inter Milan’s campaign for ending Juventus’ dominance for the past few years might fail again. They are now going down on the second on the standings with three points difference from the top. It was all due to their third consecutive draws which could simply ruin their own opportunity to win their Serie A title this season. This weekend they will have to start sealing three points to save their campaign against Udinese in Friuli stadium.
Udinese was unable to win again when they visited Parma last week. They were defeated 0-2. Ricardo Gagliolo and Dejan Kulusevski scored the winning goals. Yet, what was more disappointing was that they wasted several chances to equalise, including Kevin Lasagna’s shot that hit the bar. During the winter transfer, they released Ignacio Pussetto to Watford but managed to get the Dutch left back, Marvin Zeegelaar from the same club in return.
Inter Milan news:
La Beniamata failed to win again last weekend. They have been winless for the past three weeks. Previously, they were held in 1-1 draw while hosting Cagliari. Lautaro Martinez took the lead with his header but then they could not extend it in spite of the number of chances from Romelu Lukaku, Stefano Sensi and some others. Eventually, Inter's loanee, Radja Nainggolan netted an equaliser which once again denied the host's prospective three points. In this winter transfer, Nerazzurri is one of the most active one. They have been able to sign Christian Eriksen, Victor Moses, Ashley Young. Inter also released Matteo Politano and Valentina Lazaro on loan.
Missing players and probable lineups
Luca Gatti tends to employ 3-5-2 counting on Kevin Lasagna and Stefan Okaka as the main strikers. There would not be so much change in the line up as only one player, Samir, will be sidelined.
Udinese: Juan Musso; William Trost-Ekong, Becao, Bram Nuytinck; Rodrigo De Paul, Ken Sema, Seko Fofana, Rolando Mandragora, Jens Stryger Larssen; Stefano Okaka, Kevin Lasagna.
The Godfather Antonio Conte always opts for 3-5-2 formation for his tactics. He tends to rely on Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku as the main scorer. However, Conte has to come up with the new duet, possibly Lukaku-Alexis Sanchez, who happens to be comrades in thier previous club, Manchester United.
Inter Milan: Samir Handanovic; Stefan De Vrij, Diego Godin, Alessandro Bastoni; Borja Valero, Cristiano Biraghi, Nico Barella, Christian Eriksen, Ashley Young; Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku.
Inter Milan is the dominant side in the head-to-head meetings. They have won four times and one draw in the last six encounters. Yet, Inter have been held in a draw three times in a row.
Udinese's negative trend lately should be giving an opportunity for the visitor's side to begin to win again. The new spirit from their new signings should become Conte's men advantage in this fixture.
