Roma vs Bologna: Match preview
Roma – Bologna are playing match of the 23rd round of Italian Serie A at the Olimpico stadium in Rome. The home team has been in crisis since the beginning of the year, and they are looking for victory here in the race for fourth place and placement in the Champions League. Roma suffered an embarrassing defeat to Sassuolo last week. With that defea, they have lost fourth place in the championship standings.
Roma team news:
The Romans achieved only one victory in 2020, on a visit against Genoa, while they were defeated by Torino, Juventus and Sassuolo. Because of that they are now in the 4th place with Atalanta (both have 39 points). Paul Fonseca’s team has received as many as four goals against Sassuolo (4: 2) over the weekend, and it is evident that they are in crisis, and that victory in this duel is imperative.
After arguably the worst game of the season, Paulo Fonseca will be forced to change his formation. as Lorenzo Pellegrini received a red card (second yellow) against Sassuolo. Zaniolo, Diawara and Zappacosta have been absent for quite some time, and the good news is that Henrikh Mkhitaryan should be available.
Probable lineup: Lopez – Mancini, Smalling, Santon, Spinazzola – Cristante, Veretout, Villar – Under, Kluivert, Dzeko.
Bologna team news:
Bologna has achieved two victories in a row (against SPAL and Brescia), and have now joined the fight for the Europa League. They have only two points less than sixth-placed Cagliari. Sinisa Mihajlovic’s team has been playing pretty well in recent times, having achieved three wins in the previous four away games.
Although in good form, Bologna mostly won points against teams from the bottom of the table. On the other side, they mostly failed to pair with teams from the very top. However, they have a solid offensive effect this season, and may threaten Roma, who is shaken by a series of poor results.
Probable lineup: Skorupski – Bani, Danilo, Mbaye, Denswil – Poli, Schouten, Soriano, Orsolini, Sansone – Palacio.
Roma has no problem in the offensive segment, but their defense is not at the highest level. They have conceded 10 goals in their last five championship games – as many as four in a duel against Sassuolo. Bologna has been performing very well lately. That is why we believe they can score at least one goal in Rome.
