Burnley vs Manchester City: Match preview
Manchester City will make the short trip to Turf Moore on Tuesday night to play against Burnley. Citizens know that the lostin this game will definitely shatter all hopes of defending the title this season. Manchester draw against Newcastle is making three points from this match vital.
Burnley has been inconsistent this season with some mesmerizing performances overpowered by bad ones. Burnley enters this match after being defeated 2-0 against Crystal Palace but will try to do what Newcastle did in last weekend’s match against current Premier League champions.
But that 2-0 defeat followed two straight 3-0 league victories. Burnley has scored fewer goals (20) this season than just the current top four teams in the league and the Spurs. Great strikers Chris Woods and Ashley Barnes are getting into this match in good form.
Burnley team news:
Despite their defeat to Palace, Burnley made 15 shots on goal. If they had a better finish they could have taken some points from that game. Turf Moor was once a fortress for them, and with four of the five Premier League victories to come, it could once again become one.
Although a match against current league champions is not ideal for returning to winning streaks, Dyche has to look forward to something in this match, especially since City have been having some disappointing performances lately. Few people predicted that they would score 11 points less than the first-ranked team after only 14 league games, while winning just nine in the process.
Probable lineup: Pope; Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters; Hendrick, Westwood, Cork, McNeil; Wood, Barnes.
Manchester City team news:
City has problems defending, although they are without a few players due to injuries. In the last three Premier League games, they have received six goals. Saturday’s draw at Newcastle was seen as a match in which City should not have dropped points, as they could now be considered to have dropped out of the title race, but certainly they will not surrender.
Guardiola’s injury list is still quite extensive. Sergio Aguero will not be ready for this match, with Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte absent in the long run. Zinchenko is recovering but is not expected in this match. Fernandinho is being held as a defensive player while Guardiola’s first defender is recovering from injury.
Probable lineup: Ederson; Cancelo, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Mendy; De Bruyne, Rodri, D Silva; Bernardo, Jesus, Sterling.
Both of these teams have suffered inconsistencies this season and it has cost them both. Manchester City has almost the same lineup as last year, but have failed to put together a few good performances in a row. Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne stood out for the Citizens and will likely be in focus on Tuesday in this matchup.
Burnley are still in the top ten, but with three defeats in their last five Premier League matches, they will be very vulnerable to City’s attack. Even without the record scorer Aguera, City loves scoring goals and we think they will score a few here. This is why we believe in City winning with two or more goals difference.
