Getafe’s series of win might be facing a difficulty this weekend as they are hosting one of their contenders for the remaining two Champions League spots, Sevilla. Both teams are only separated by two points. They are likely to be involved in a tight clash as they both aim for vital points for securing UCL spots next season.
Getafe's four win run had to end last weekend when they visited Camp Nou. Pepe Bordalass men lost 1-2 as Antoine Griezmann and Sergi Roberto found the back of the net. They could only score a consolation goal by Angel Rodriguez. However, they managed to regain confidence in Europa League fixture. They thumped Ajax Amsterdam 2-0 by Deyverson's and Kenedy's goal.
Meanwhile, Sevilla had a 2-2 draw last weekend while hosting the one at the bottom of the table, Espanyol. It was a tight match as both teams scored in turn. Jesus Navas and Co took the lead by Lucas Ocampos, but then Espanyol responded two goals by Adrian Embarba and Wu Lei. Fortunately, their new signing on loan, Suso, equalised. This result prevented them from ending their winless weeks in the past four games. Such even continued in Europa League last Thursday as they once again only snatched one point while facing off CFR Cluj in Romania. They were conceded first by Ciprian Deac but could level themselves as Youssef En-Neysri.
Missing players and probable lineups
Jose Bordalas is mainly in favour of 4-4-2 this season. His number one forwards are Angel Rodriguez and Jaime Mata supported by Barcelonas loanee Marc Cucurella and Alan Nyom. This pragmatic tactical approach seems to have been working well. Luckily only one name will be sidelined for this upcoming match, Victorino Antunes.
Getafe: David Soria; Djene Djekonam, David Timor, Mathias Olivera, Damian Suarez ; Marc Cucurella, Mauro Arambarri, Jason, Nemanja Maksimovic; Angel Rodriguez, Jaime Mata.
The former Spain national team and Real Madrids boss, Julen Lopetegui, also often deploys the similar 4-3-3 formation relying on ball possession. However, he still has goal getter issue to resolve as the main scorer currently happens to be the winger Lucas Ocampos, instead of the targetman Luuk De Jong, Munir El Haddadi or their new signing Youssef En-Nesyri. There is only one player missing out is Oliver Torres.
Sevilla: Tomas Vaclick; Sergio Gomez, Diego Carlos, Jesus Navas, Sergio Reguilon ; Ever Banega, Fernando, Joan Jordan ; Lucas Ocampos, Youseff En-Neyseri, Suso.
Both team are naturally even as expected. It can be seen from their record in the last six meetings. Getafe and Sevilla share the same number of win, draw and loss.
Getafe's form at home has been impressive and certainly daunting for their contenders below them. Thus, if Julen Lopetegui's men are unable to maximise their better squad and improve their targetmans poor finishing, the host will take the advantage and seal another three points.
