Manchester United vs Partizan: Match preview
Manchester United can secure a pass in the knockout phase of the Europa League with three points in this match. There is no doubt that they will go for full prey so they can rest their first team in the next two matches.
Partizan, on the other hand, knows they must not lose this match and will be strongly motivated to take revenge on the Red Devils for their unfortunate defeat in Belgrade.
Manchester United team news:
After four games without a win, Manchester United have recorded three consecutive wins. Interestingly, all three have come away. In terms of home ground, the Red Devils have one defeat in seven games, while they haven’t been able to win the previous two against Arsenal and Liverpool, both finishing 1-1.
After an obvious crisis and a period of bad results, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad seems to be playing better in the last two weeks. However, they did not show a great game in Belgrade against Partizan, when they scored from a single shot and scored from a penalty. Still, three goals against Norwich in the Premier League and two against Chelsea in the English League Cup are confirmation of better form.
Probable lineup: Romero; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Jones, Williams; Garner, McTominay; James, Lingard, Rashford; Greenwood
Partizan team news:
Partizan can’t boast with good form lately, having suffered as many as four defeats in the previous six matches. They responded to defeat against United with a 4-0 victory against Spartak Subotica, but lost the next game to Cukaricki away.
After five consecutive away victories, Partizan have suffered two defeats and have not scored in two of their last four games.
Savo Milosevic can’t count on Lazar Markovic, who has a back injury, but other players are available. Umar Sadiq and Seydouba Soumah have scored 16 goals in total this season and there is no doubt that Partizan will try to come to a positive result through these two strikers.
Probable lineup: Stojković; Urošević, Pavlović, Ostojić, Miletić; Tošić, Natcho, Zdjelar, Soumah; Asano, Sadiq
Although they have scored five goals in the previous two games, the Red Devils are quite inefficient at Old Trafford this season. Excluding a 4-0 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League opener, Manchester have not scored more than one goal in six consecutive matches in front of their fans. This gives Partizan hope that it can win a positive result, which in their case would also mean a draw. Still, it’s easier said than done.
In any case, the pressure will be on the home side to get up to three points, and Partizan will certainly have their chance to surprise the big favorite. Black and white showed that they could be an equal opponent to the English giant. It gives them hope and motivation to play well on Thursday.
