Eintracht Frankfurt vs Salzburg: Match preview
Both teams have went through several changes during the winter break. It especially applies to Salzburg, who changed large part of the team.
Frankfurt team news:
Eintracht concluded last calendar year with a number of bad results. This is not surprising given the fact that Hutter’s squad started the season by qualifying for the Europa League well before the other Bundesliga competitors.
During the winter break, the team regenerated energy and playfully continued in the sequel. A series of successes, most notably two victories over a strong RB Leipzig squad, were nevertheless interrupted by a heavy away defeat by Borussia Dortmund.
In the first half, Hutter’s team resisted the attacks of Borussia well. But, later on the Eintracht defense showed weaknesses that Haaland, Sancho and teammates were able to exploit.
Probable lineup: Trapp, Ndicka, Ilsanker, Abraham, Costa, Rode, Sow, Kostić, Kamada, Chandler, Silva.
Salzburg team news:
Salzburg fans enjoyed the first part of the season. As the most dominant Austrian team they finally played in the Champions League. They immediately played in the so-called “death squad” where they showed they could handle even the strongest European teams.
The approach of the Mars squad and the goals of the incredible Halland delighted impartial spectators of Salzburg matches, but after relegation from the Champions League the rich clubs weakened the team considerably during the winter. After all, it was immediately evident in the first championship game after the winter break, which was played last Friday, which Salzburg lost to its fans from LASK.
The team was defeated against the main competitor in the title race, and has just one victory in the last five championship games. This resulted in Marsch’s team now being one point on the championship table behind LASK.
Probable lineup: Stanković, Wober, Ramalho, Onguene, Farkas, Junuzović, Okugawa, Mwepu, Ulmer, Daka, Hee-Chan.
This would be a tough duel. But having in mind the form of both teams at the moment we must conclude that Frankfurt is a favorite in this match. That is why we believe they will score at least a goal more than the opponent.
