Real Madrid vs Manchester City
This is probably the most interesting match of the round. Two teams that have only one goal in this competition, – the title.
Manchester’s season is not so successful. They already lost chances to win the Premier League and have additional problems. Namely, they are prohibited from participating in the European competition next two years.
On the other side, Real will go for the trophy in both the Champions League and La Liga.
Real Madrid team news:
The Madrid team did poorly in the last couple of games. In that period Real only defeated Osasuna away, but also registered two defeats (in the King’s Cup against Real Socedad 3-4 and the last defeat at Levante 0-1). Not even a home league draw against Celta (2-2) was commendable.
Before this mini-crisis, Real lost his last game in mid-October, and after that he played as many as 21 games in all competitions without defeat. The current situation has definitely broken down, and the fall is especially noticeable in the defensive part of the game. Real has been scoring at least one goal or more in the match.
Eden Hazard is injured again. So far, the Belgian footballer has dealt almost exclusively with his injuries and not with his game.
Probable lineup: Courtois, Carvajal, Varane, Sergio Ramos, Mendy, Valverde, Casemiro, Kroos, Isco, Benzema, Bale.
Manchester City team news:
Six teams went undefeated in the group stage of this Champions League this season. One of those six teams is Manchester City. In addition, City is ranked second on the defense list.
That defense has also stood out in the last two meetings. In the last two appearances Ederson’s net has not shaken. But the main forte of this team is the attack, which is confirmed this season as well. City has the best attack in the Premier League.
Still, there are counter-examples, so City’s offense was absolutely quiet (and calm) in the 2015/16 season, the last time these two teams played. Zidane’s Real then completely stopped Aguero, De Bruyne, Sterling and others in two Champions League semi-final games.
Probable lineup: Ederson, Walker, Fernandinho, Laporte, Mendy, Rodrigo, De Bruyne, D. Silva, B. Silva, Sterling, Aguero.
It is hard to predict the outcome of this duel. Our opinion is that in the first match Real is favorite. So, we expect them to win, but not with large difference.
