Crvena Zvezda vs Olympiacos: Match preview
The outsiders in this group are playing in the 2nd round and it will probably be a fight for third place and placement in the Europa League.
Olympiacos was able to draw in the first round with Tottenham in their home ground. On the other side Crvena Zvezda was defeated in Munich. This will be their first match in European competitions.
Crvena Zvezda team news:
Again, Crvena Zvezda managed to reach the group stage of the Champions League competition, although they started at the very beginning of qualifying. It is a great success and they can play the group stage unburdened, although they also hope for some good results.
Last season they managed to score four points and beat the late European champion Liverpool. At the beginning of this edition they were not bad in Munich, but in the end they lost 3-0. After that they lost the big championship derby against Partizan so they are not leaders in the standings, but hold second place.
They managed to beat Macva last weekend, though the game was not their best one. Jovičić is still injured and team may play the same composition as against Bayern.
Probable starting lineup: Borjan – Gobeljic, Degenek, Milunovic, Jander – Canas, Jovancic – M. Garcia, Marin, La Parra – Pavkov
Olympiacos team news:
Olympiacos also played qualifiers and they had a hard and long way to reach the group stage. In the beginning they played bravely against the favored Tottenham.
They even managed to come back against the current vice-champion after two goals behind. The final result was 2: 2 and they can be pleased with the points they won. This is a good basis for the fight against Crvena Zvezda.
If they win in Belgrade, they would practically have secured at least a third place. Also, they are doing well in the Greek Championship, where they are leaders. They recorded four wins and only had a draw in the derby against Panathinaikos when it was 1-1. They are coming to Belgrade in virtually the strongest squad, and only Fortounis, who is absent for a long time is missing.
Probable starting lineup: Jose Sa – Elabdellaoui, Semedo, Meriah, Tsimikas – Bouchalakis, Guilherme – Podence, Valbuena, Masouras – Guerrero
