Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Dortmund: Match preview
The big derby of the 21st round of the Bundesliga will be played between Leverkusen and Dortmund. Both teams play very well in the spring part of the season, especially the Dortmund team who have done a great job buying Haaland and are back in the title fight.
Leverkusen team news:
Leverkusen was defeated by Hoffenheim in the last round, but they are also in very good shape after the break. They have scored 8 goals in three games and are again in a great position when it comes to Champions League placement.
They are eight points behind the leader. Kerem Demirbay is suspended for this match after earning a second yellow card in the 92nd minute of the game against Hoffenheim last weekend. Midfielder Charles Aranguiz is also missing due to injury.
Dormund team news:
Dortmund has been in excellent form since coming back from the winter break, defeating all their opponents and delivering great games, at least when it comes to the offensive side of the team. Fifteen goals in three games against Augsburg, Koln and Union Berlin. On the other side, they have much more difficult task in this match, where they will have to show why they deserve to fight for the title.
Dortmund is just three points behind Bayern and has a new goal sensation in their lineup. Erling Braut Haaland only played 136 minutes in three games for his new club, but already only Marco Reus and Jadon Sancho have scored more than seven goals already recorded by the Norwegian.
Emre Can will have to wait for his debut because he is ill while Thomas Delaney is questioned because of ankle injury. The biggest blow will be the lack of Reus who will be away for at least a month.
In our opinion, Dortmund is a big favorite and we believe that they will win in this match as well. Haaland’s first start is expected, which means much more trouble for Lukasz Hradecki from the start.
However, in four games played after the winter break, Dortmund has received 6 goals and in the last three away games in Leverkusen have at least once taken the ball out of their net.
