RB Leipzig vs Olympique Lyonnais: Match preview
In the group which is probably the most equal after the first round, Leipzig, who celebrated the away victory in the first round, stands best.
Lyon has only played draw at home and cannot be satisfied, just like the championship games where they are only in 11th place. Leipzig are second in the Bundesliga, but they lost for the first time this past weekend. This will be their first ever match.
RB Leipzig team news:
Each series comes to an end, so Leipzig was defeated for the first time this season on Saturday. It happened in the 6th round of the Bundesliga on home soil, which was not quite expected.
In the first five rounds, the impact was four wins and a draw with Bayern. But then they lost against Schalke on Saturday. It was 3-1 for the guests and there is no excuse for that defeat as almost the strongest squad played. There was no resting of the players. Now, there will certainly be a change as they want to go on to win the Champions League, having beaten Benfica 2-1 in the first round in Lisbon. Konate, Klostermann, Laimer and Nkunku will return.
Probable starting lineup: Gulacsi – Konate, Upamecano, Orban – Klostermann, Laimer, Halstenberg – Sabitzer, Nkunku – Y.Poulsen, Ti.Werner
Olympique Lyonnais team news:
With Lyon scoring nine goals in the first two rounds and not receiving one, it seemed like this could be an unforgettable season. It all looks completely different now and after these two triumphs, Lyon was no longer able to beat anyone.
They played six championship matches and recorded three draws and three losses. They did not start the Champions League well either, as they drew with Zenit in their stadium with a score of 1: 1. It’s hard to say if they have a solution to the crisis, but they played very poorly again on Saturday. The result was lost to Nantes at home 1-0. So there will definitely be a change in the team, and Traore is questioned.
Probable starting: A.Lopes – Dubois, Marcelo, Denayer, Kone – Tousart, T.Mendes, Aouar – Cornet, Dembele, Depay
Leipzig is a big favorite if watching the season so far, but Lyon is not for writing off and this team is always able to shine. They may not be able to celebrate in Leipzig, however, it is unlikely that the host will outplay them completely.
