Fulham vs Watford – The Jig Is Quite Simply Up

Welcome to our weekly round-up in which we will preview the upcoming EPL action this Saturday. There’s a lot of trouble that can happen in the coming days but we are all quite eager to see the matches on the weekend! With this in mind, let’s dive straight into it, picking it from the top with the game between Fulham and Watford.

Fulham and Watford – What’s This About?

There is a lot that can be said about both teams. Let’s weak at the facts, such as they are. Of course, many of would want them to be slightly different, but hey – in the EPL you can hardly ever why to the 500 million people tuning in to watch, or can you really?

In any event, identifying the weakest link in the Cottagers’ defense were their midfielders. Oh, yes. Both Kevin McDonald and Jean Michael Seri struggled to contain the opponents and this showed particularly in the match against Manchester City. Naturally, to say that they did bad job is an overstatement, especially when we talk Manchester City here. However, we need to be cognizant of one very simple truth – they could have fought harder.

The fact that they allowed Fernandinho and David Silva to do whatever they pleased was indeed a gross oversight that needs to be amended in future clashes.

Looking at the Hard Numbers

Looking at the numbers and how the footballers have performed, it’s not easy to imagine why certain teams fail in such an ungracious fashion. However, let’s look at the players that matter. Javi Garcia has helped Roberto Pereyra carry on with his skilled plays uninterrupted and that has been welcome by fans and foes, albeit the latter grumbled a bit more often than did the former.

In light of the recent performances, we ought to ask ourselves. What will the line ups be like? Is there one clear answer to this, really, or rather – should we prepare ourselves for something completely unprecedented? Either way, here’s a guess of who is going to play indeed!

Fulham: Bettinelli, Sessegnon, Mawson, Odoi, Cairney, McDonald, Seri, Schurrle, Mitrovic, Vietto

Watford: Foster, Janmaat, Cathcart, Kabasele, Holebas, Doucoure, Capoue, Pereyra, Hughes, Gray, Deeney

Javi Garcia has had couple of things to say, given his boys’ outstanding performance: “I think the first half they had played much better than us.

“They had more possession, they had more chances and they played better.

“In the second half, maybe because we felt comfortable, maybe because we felt the support of our fans and they pushed us and we tried until the end and will try in the next game.”

He is not wrong. The support of the fans has played a crucial role in many matches so far and it’s quite evident what has happened over the period so far. Fulham and Watford will be going in a head-and-head race and there is simply no stopping the competition between the two teams right now.
